The First Acre of Culebra Eden is getting ready!

It’s happening! After months (okay, maybe years) of dreaming, sketching, planning, and doing all the behind-the-scenes magic that comes before planting a single seed, Culebra Eden is finally getting its hands gloriously dirty.

We’re clearing the first acre of land, the beginning of what will become our Butterfly Garden and Eden Village Picnic Area!

Imagine this: a gentle island breeze dancing through native flowers, monarchs floating from milkweed to marigold, volunteers laughing under the shade of new trees, and a long picnic table where our Eden crew gathers to rest, share ideas, and taste the fruits of our labor (literally).

This first acre isn’t just dirt and grass, it’s the foundation of our dream: to heal the land while creating a space where people, pollinators, and purpose come together.

🦋 Why a Butterfly Garden?

Because butterflies are more than beautiful, they’re a symbol of transformation, resilience, and rebirth.
Just like Culebra itself, our garden will serve as a living classroom for visiting youth and volunteers. We’ll plant native flowering species to attract butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds while teaching the next generation about the delicate balance of our island’s ecosystem.

What’s a community farm without a space to celebrate the community?
Our picnic area will be the heart of Eden Village, a place for morning coffee meetups, volunteer lunches, storytelling circles, and farm-to-table gatherings. A place where everyone, from island locals to travelers lending a hand, can connect, recharge, and share in the joy of growing something together.

Nuestro primer acre de Culebra Eden cobra vida

¡Está sucediendo! Después de meses (bueno, tal vez años) de soñar, planificar y preparar el terreno, literal y figuradamente, Culebra Eden finalmente está lista para ensuciarse las manos con propósito.

Estamos comenzando a limpiar nuestra primera acre de tierra, donde nacerá nuestro tan esperado Jardín de Mariposas y el Área de Picnic de Eden Village.

Imagina esto: una suave brisa isleña moviendo las flores nativas, mariposas revoloteando entre las plantas, voluntarios riendo mientras trabajan la tierra, y una gran mesa de picnic donde nuestro equipo comparte ideas, comida y sueños.

Esta primera acre no es solo tierra: es la base de nuestra visión, sanar el suelo, nutrir la comunidad y crear un espacio donde las personas, los polinizadores y el propósito florezcan juntos.

Al igual que Culebra, nuestro jardín será un aula viva para nuestros jóvenes y voluntarios visitantes. Plantaremos especies nativas que atraen mariposas, abejas y zumbadores, enseñando sobre el equilibrio natural que sostiene la vida en nuestra isla.

¿Qué sería una finca comunitaria sin un lugar para celebrar la comunidad?
Nuestra área de picnic será el corazón de Eden Village, un espacio para los cafés mañaneros, los almuerzos de voluntarios, los círculos de historias y las cenas del campo a la mesa.
Un lugar donde todos, desde los residentes de Culebra hasta los visitantes que vienen a colaborar, puedan reconectarse, descansar y disfrutar de lo que juntos estamos cultivando.
